To promote reading each month, I would create a new challenge. This also merged with Pizza Hut's BookIT program. Students had to read a book and disguise something as the character. We would vote on a school-wide winner each month. 

One of my duties as Library Media Specialist was to run the morning announcements each morning. I used SlidesGO to create an interactive and engaging templates to help keep student attention each morning. 

As Sunshine co-lead, it was my duty to organize in and out of school monthly events. I created the flyers to hype up the event and tried to organize things all staff could participate in. 

As the Media Specialist, I was also in charge of the yearbook. I would have students create and design every single page. The end result was a yearbook created for the students BY the students. 

Each month, I chose a book for the reading spotlight bulletin board. Students would create something to go on the board. This allowed ALL student work to be displayed throughout the school. 

Becoming the Library Media Specialist at the tail-end of Covid lockdowns allowed me a unique opportunity with book fairs. The excitement showed, as we tripled the sales as a school, and had over $300 of donations! 

To increase student engagement and problem-solving, I ran various after-school clubs. We had a robotics club, Minecraft club, and Rubik's Cube club just to name a few. 

Due to COVID, many of our students were not only behind in reading, but also understanding the library as a whole. I decided to change our Fiction section to be a genrefied, color-coded section to allow for easy access.
